Montgomery, AL

In the past, my only experiences with the state of Alabama have been flying over and driving through it, which meant that it was an overnight I couldn't say no to. Pair that with that fact that it meant we would get to eat fresh seafood and spend the evening together made it a must.
Many of the pilots who work with Parker talk about how amazing the Montgomery overnight is, and Parker, having visited before, couldn't wait to go back for another overnight. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. It is downtown, close to the river, and just so happens to have a pool and spa on the roof! If only it were a longer overnight, so I could check them out.
When we arrived it was almost dinner time, but we wanted to explore first. We walked down to the river passing amazing history along the way. At the river, we stopped by the dinner cruise boat for a quick picture moment.
Since it was a brief adventure we saw the sights that were along our walking adventure, mostly. Parker then led me through "The Alley", which was so neat! I loved seeing all of the different restaurants and stopped for this fun pink wall to snap a pic.
We had dinner at Wintzell's Oyster House. You should definitely go! I truly mean it. Go if you get the chance to! It was so yummy, affordable, and the atmosphere welcomed you right in. Plus, it was extremely entertaining to read the signs and sayings they have up all over the restaurant.
When you go, be sure to check out all of the historical plaques and signs. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Wrigley's writing on the side of the building and other pieces of history scattered throughout the quaint little town.
I spent quite a bit of time in the airport on this adventure, but I loved it. Since this fell on weekdays, I took an early flight - spent the work day in the airport - late flight after work. This meant, I could enjoy coffee and lunch in the airport, tuck myself away and use a fun virtual background for work, and take advantage of the full length mirrors in the bathrooms to document my outfits (shoes included for once) ha! If you find yourself in CLT for an extended period of time, be sure to venture over to Terminal A for a peaceful work space.
